Overview of Advisory Board

Overview

The Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) is charged to advise the Board of County Commissioners on matters of concern regarding animal issues and services within the county, and to work with Animal Services on various policy concerns and issues. The board also hears appeal cases involving Potentially Dangerous Dog Declarations within the county.

Public Participation

Meetings of the Advisory Board and its committees are a public function and members of the public are invited to attend and permitted to speak within certain guidelines.

Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool

There is a pool from which people are drawn to serve on hearing panels for dangerous dog declarations and other actions taken by Animal Services staff. This pool is entirely independent of Animal Services staff and its members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
