My name is Claudia Yerena, and I am a Zone 4 Navigator for the Family Success Alliance. I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, but I have lived in Chapel Hill for almost 18 years. I am a proud mom of two boys, (9 and 7 years old), and a beautiful 16-month-old baby girl. My family is my life, and I want the best for them. For this reason, I try to be very involved in their education and sports activities. As a mother, I want to give my kids the opportunities to be successful, and to teach them to overcome challenges in life. I think we all want that for our children. I may be a new Navigator, but I have been actively involved as parent in the Family Success Alliance program for 2 years.
I am thrilled to be part of this wonderful program because its goal is to make a positive change in our children’s lives in my community. What I love the most about FSA is that it not only focuses on the children, but also the whole family. It provides the resources and makes connections to those families who are struggling with basic needs. Working with FSA gives me the opportunity to contribute more to my community. This great program will change the lives of our children in the zones. We need to work harder for children, because children are our future adults. Children in our zones, can now dream big, because they will know that anything is possible. They will have the tools and support to be whatever they want to be in life. They just need to persist, to work hard and the willingness to never give up.
