Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)Aging Services Logo

VITA is an Orange County NC Volunteer Connect 55+ (VC 55+) volunteer program that provides FREE federal and NC state income tax preparation to eligible individuals with low-to-moderate income, regardless of age or county of residence. 

The VITA 2021 In-Person Tax Season has ended. All virtual services end October 15, 2022.

  1. Get CTC by Code for America: Simple tool optimized for smartphones for clients to receive missing child tax credit and/or 3rd $1400 stimulus. Income limit $12,550 ($25,100 married filing jointly). Visit GetCTC.org/Hotline. Technical Assistance Hotline 919-589-4599 available in English and Spanish; 9 am - 5 pm; M - F. 

  2. GetYourRefund by Code for America: File full returns for 2019, 2020, and 2021 tax years to receive stimulus payments and all benefits including child care and earned income tax credits - Visit GetYourRefund.org/Hotline to get started. For technical help, call the Hotline at 919-589-4599 available in English and Spanish; 9 am - 5 pm; M - F.
  1. MyFreeTaxes by United Way: MyFreeTaxes allows people to file their 2021 taxes for FREE, and it’s brought to you by United Way. Help available in English and Spanish. You can prepare your return via MyFreeTaxes.com/Cash4NC. For Helpline services, technical or tax assistance, dial 211.
