Summer Learning 2022

June 6-July 9

Summer is a great time to read for fun. It's also a terrific time to use the library to connect with the rest of the world!

Birth to Grade 5

Register for Summer Learning at either library location and get a free book on the spot! You'll also receive a reading log to track the minutes you read. Each week you can win a prize or donate a book to a child who does not have their own books at home. You can also enter a raffle to win really big prizes, and, of course, more books! Important dates are as follows:

  • July 17 - Last day to qualify for an entry into our raffle
  • July 18 - Raffle drawing
  • July 23 - Last day to turn in minutes

Middle and High School-Aged Kids

Stop by either library location and pick up a Summer Learning ticket. Each time you read or volunteer, fill out the ticket to enter our weekly drawing. Winners can choose to receive a book or have the library donate a book to someone in our community. Important dates are as follows:

  • July 23 - Last day to turn in minutes

Adults Read for Kids

Drop by the service desk on the second floor at the Main Library or the service desk at the Cybrary and pick up our book drive log to track your reading. Return the log by July 30, and for every 30 minutes you have read, we’ll donate a book to someone in our community.

  • July 9 - Last day to pick up a reading log
  • July 30 - Last day to turn in minutes

Here are a few of the opportunities to connect with others at the library

  • Storytimes in Hillsborough and Carrboro
  • New book clubs: "Cook the Book" and "Queer Books + Snacks"
  • Magic and puppet shows
  • Author readings

You can find all the information about any of these events on our calendar.
