Orange County Landfill
The Orange County Landfill no longer operates as a Municipal Solid Waste Landfill. Residents can bring small loads or bagged household waste to Waste & Recycling Centers. Please see chart below for list of items accepted at the landfill.

Regulated Recyclable Materials Penalty Fee
C & D waste loads containing Regulated Recyclable Materials (i.e. corrugated cardboard, clean wood, and scrap metal), are subject to a penalty fee. More than 1/3 cubic yard of banned materials per load will be subject to double tip fee. In addition to this fee, mixed load violators are subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $500.00 per offense in accordance with Section 34-77(4) of the Orange County, NC Code of Ordinances.
The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department offers reduced tip fees for these Regulated Recyclable Materials if they are separated for recycling prior to delivery to the Orange County Landfill.

Tipping Fee Schedule
- Flat fee for truck/van/trailer loads up to 1000 pounds.
- Weights above 1000 pounds will be prorated for these vehicles.
- All loads must be tarped.
- Vehicles must have working tailgate.
- Dump Trailers must have charged batteries. *OC Staff are not allowed to jump customer batteries.
