Study Shows That Wearing a Mask Lowers the Odds of Testing Positive for COVID-19

Wearing any kind of mask indoors is associated with significantly better protection from the coronavirus, with high-quality N95 and KN95 masks providing the best chance of avoiding infection, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

In indoor public settings, surgical masks reduce the chances of testing positive by 66 percent, the CDC estimated. Top-of-the-line N95 and KN95 masks, the tightfitting face coverings often worn by health-care workers, cut the odds of infection by 83 percent, the health agency said.
Wearing a cloth mask appeared to lower the odds of testing positive by 56 percent, but the findings were not statistically significant.

faq

I have already had COVID-19. Do I still need to get vaccinated or boosted?

Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19 because, even though you will have some immunity after you have recovered, it estimated that it only lasts a few months. Also the COVID-19 virus mutates constantly creating new variants, like the Omicron variant. That means that the COVID-19 you have recovered from may not be the variant that is circulating in your community currently.

HIV and african american people

February 7th Was National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

Black/African American people account for a higher proportion of new HIV diagnoses and people with HIV, compared to other races and ethnicities. Racism, HIV stigma, homophobia, poverty, and barriers to health care continue to drive these disparities.

People who don't know they have HIV can't get the care and treatment they need to stay healthy. Taking HIV medicine every day can make the viral load undetectable, which means one can stay healthy for many years and have effectively no risk of transmitting HIV to sex partners.
