Orange County Accepting Applications for Outside Agency Funding

Orange County supports nonprofit organizations that deliver and supplement vital county programs and services. The program’s overarching goal is to achieve economic and social well-being and opportunities to thrive for all Orange County residents, particularly those who are low-income or otherwise historically disenfranchised.

Orange County is now accepting applications for Outside Agency funding for Fiscal Year 2023-24. Outside Agency Funding application is available online.

Past initiatives that were granted funding improved education, food and housing security. Others provided programs and services that sought to improve behavioral, mental and physical health outcomes for Orange County residents.

Racial Equity Update
Consistent with the adopted One Orange Countywide Racial Equity Framework, over the past year the following steps have been taken to further center racial equity in the Outside Agency Program:

Added Racial Equity questions to the funding Application
Conducted Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) training for Boards and Commissions
Offered Racial Equity Institute Training for Staff and non-profit organizations

This fiscal year the County is working on:

Launching the Race Forward survey to Orange County employees
Beginning initial work on strategic plan for the county to include equity initiatives internally and beyond

The ultimate goal is to no longer see disparities based on race and improve results for all. Orange County will continue to work together with the other local governments to enhance the Outside Agency Program and to center equity and inclusion. We encourage outside agencies to partner with the county on equity related outreach efforts and collaborations.
