About the Park

Located adjacent to Gravelly Hill Middle School at 4710 W Ten Road Efland, North Carolina, this special facility was specifically conceived and designed to accommodate the growing need for playing fields within Orange County. A master plan was prepared and presented to the public and comments were incorporated into the plan in July 2004. An opportunity arose during the planning for the 3rd Orange County Middle School to incorporate the desired outcome of school and park co-location and realize economies of scale in the pre-construction phase of the project. Planning and pre-construction took place during 2005 and 2006.

In the spring of 2007, the Board of County Commissioners authorized funding to complete the project, and final construction of the fields began during the summer.

The soccer center includes 5 full-size fields (360 feet by 225 feet) and 1 smaller youth field (120 feet by 240 feet). A perimeter walking track will be installed as well as lighting for all. A concession building includes restrooms, an office, equipment storage, a first aid room, and a team room. Parking areas and fencing complete the project.

Funding assistance was provided by the US Soccer Foundation in the form of a grant.
