The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone six months of age and older get flu vaccine annually. Vaccination efforts usually begin in August or September and continue through March. Flu vaccine is modified each year to protect against the flu strains predicted to be most prevalent for the upcoming season.
