Check It In! and return overdue library books, CDs or DVDs
In celebration of National Library Week, starting April 14th, Orange County Public Library (OCPL) encourages patrons to "Check It In!" by returning overdue items, no matter how late. OCPL will forgive all fines and fees on any overdue item that is returned to the library by May 12th.
With more than 750 overdue and nearly 1,600 lost items in the system, OCPL wants patrons back to enjoy the library’s offerings by returning as many overdue materials as possible. In addition to giving library customers an opportunity to do some spring cleaning, this will assist staff in the transition to a new library catalog, scheduled to go live on May 1st.
How does it work?
No matter how long you’ve had an item, you can return it to OCPL without penalty. Just bring the item to any of the three OCPL locations in Hillsborough or Carrboro. No questions will be asked and NO FINES will be charged.
Fines for items previously returned, as well as replacement fees for damaged materials or lost items that can’t be located, are not a part of Check It In!
