ORANGE COUNTY (June 12, 2018) -- The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has recognized Orange County's Finance Department for outstanding achievement for its annual financial reports for the fiscal year 2017.
Orange County received an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its annual financial report. The Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is created to provide residents with an easy to understand guide to the county's budget and finances. The GFOA reviews the report for its "reader appeal (and) understandability." It won the award for the second consecutive year.
In addition, the county was recognized for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 26th time.
The GFOA issued a press release, which stated: The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other practitioners.
