Orange County Animal Services promotes "Home for the Holidays" campaign

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (November 13, 2017)— Orange County Animal Services has begun its annual ‘Home for the Holidays’ campaign, and has several upcoming events and community activities scheduled.  The campaign is designed to raise shelter awareness during the holiday season, both for those missing a lost pet and those choosing to add one to their family.

Among the most notable of the events is the Canned Pet Food Drive, collecting donated cans of cat and dog food for pet owners in need.  Unopened cans of food can be donated to the Animal Services Center between November 15 and December 16, and will be delivered to Orange Congregations In Mission (OCIM) and Chapel Hill Meals on Wheels to help residents in need.

Other holiday events include:

  • Adoption Specials for dogs ($65), puppies ($70), cats ($55), and kittens ($60) will be available between November 15 and December 30, 2017.
  • Adoptable dogs will be representing Animal Services Saturday, December 2, at the Hillsborough Holiday Parade and on Saturday, December 9, at the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Holiday Parade.
  • Pictures With Santa at the Animal Services Center on Saturday, December 16 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Cost is four or more cans of donated food to the Canned Pet Food Drive on or before December 16.

The Animal Services Center is located at 1601 Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill.  For a full listing of events and to see pictures of animals that are lost or available for adoption, please visit www.orangecountync.gov/departments/animalservices, or keep up with the department on Facebook at www.facebook.com/OCASpets
