My name is Jena Dolby. I am a Chapel Hill native (born and raised) and mother of two boys. I am a part-time student completing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I am also a part-time bus driver in the local school district, as well as the newest Zone 6 Navigator for Family Success Alliance. As a teen, I became a mother and had to educate myself about the local resources that would benefit my child and me. As a teen mom, I encountered many hardships, but my son was my blessing as he gave me the courage to never give up. I gained the strength to ask for help and guidance on becoming a better mom.
With the help of local resources, I was able to finish school, provide a healthy and happy living environment for my child, and became a better “me” than I could’ve imagined. In my work as a Navigator, I am excited to use my story and resources to help those in need. As a mother of a one-year-old and a 16-year-old, I look forward to becoming more educated while also educating other families for success. It is truly exciting for me to be a part of something that helped me in times of need, and now I have the opportunity to help others in my very own community.
