To stop the spread of COVID-19, Governor Roy Cooper has issued a Stay-at-Home order for the State of North Carolina. People are to stay at home except for essential activities. This order has the force of law and will be enforced in all 100 counties in the state.

Order Ends: May 8, 2020 at 5:00 pm

Current Planning Service Changes
In light of the pandemic and the Stay-at-Home order, Current Planning staff has made the following changes in the interest of public health and safety.
Phone, Email, and Appointment Only
Staff is available by phone and email to assist you during normal operating hours (8 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday). Staff will not see walk-ins. You may request an in-person appointment for inspections, violations, and other essential activities. However, staff reserves the right to refuse an in-person appointment request if the business can be conducted via phone or email.

Drop Box: You may drop off applications and plans in the drop box at our office at 131 W. Margaret Lane. If you use the drop box, please call or email a staff member to prompt retrieval.
You can pay required fees with check or credit card. We are not accepting cash payments at this time.

Staff will process permits as quickly as possible. Please make sure your application is accurate and complete before submittal. Deficiencies in applications result in longer processing times.
Staff will conduct inspections by appointment. If we need to meet you in the field, we will maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from you in keeping with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
