UNC students registered to vote in Orange County will need to plan appropriately for any change in their address, said Orange County Board of Elections Director Rachel Raper.

Students registered to vote at a campus address who are unsure if they are leaving campus should resolve their housing situation before requesting an absentee ballot. This will ensure the ballot is mailed to the appropriate address.

Students registered to vote at a campus address may request an absentee ballot (http://www.orangecountync.gov/1104/Absentee-Voting-By-Mail) and have that ballot sent to an address of your choosing. This is the best option for people who know they will be leaving their campus address for the remainder of the semester.

Students who have moved out of their campus address but already requested an absentee ballot sent to your campus address should send the Orange County Board of Elections an updated absentee request to have your ballot sent to an alternative address. The form can be found at: (http://www.orangecountync.gov/1104/Absentee-Voting-By-Mail).

The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the November election is Oct. 27, but Raper urges students not to wait until the deadline due to anticipated high demand. The Orange County BoE has already received 10 times more applications for early ballots than they did for the 2016 Presidential election, said Raper.

Students registered in Orange County can vote at any of the six early voting sites in Orange County beginning Oct. 15. More information can be found at:
