[ARCHIVED] Nature of Orange photo contest winners announced

Nature of Orange winning photograph of beautiful scene in Orange County

The Nature of Orange Photography Contest has concluded and has been judged. The theme of this year’s contest was Parks and Trails in Orange County.

For next year, the theme will be “Farms, Parks and Trails in Orange County.”

In August, last year’s winners and this year’s winners will be on display at Cup a Joe in Hillsborough on King Street. In September, this year’s winners will be on display at the Orange County Library. In October, they will move to the Orange County Visitor’s Center in Chapel Hill, then in January, they will move to the Hillsborough Visitor’s Center by the Post Office on King Street.

Adult winners:

  • 1st Place: Charles R Sheppard II, Autumn Colors on the Eno
  • 2nd Place: Keith Newell, Blackwood Reflection
  • 3rd Place: WR Bullock Jr, Green Heron on the Prowl
  • Honorable Mention: Charles R Sheppard II, Silky Eno
  • Honorable Mention: Molly Cronenwett, Blackwood Farm Barn

Youth Winners:

  • 1st Place: Jasmin Brown, Sunlight Stick
  • 2nd Place: Julia Vaughan, Wish Plant
  • 3rd Place: Maggie Sandbeck; Eno’s Reflection
  • Honorable Mention: Jordan Barlow, Sunbathing in the Rain
  • Honorable Mention: Maggie Sandbeck, Silhouetted Sunsets

This year's winners and judges will be honored in September at a Board of County Commissioner’s meeting.
