Orange County Recreation’s first priority is the safety and well-being of our participants and patrons. The County, specifically the Health Department, is monitoring situations related to the COVID-19 virus and is leading our response to this virus.
As a result, from the Direction of the Orange County Manager and Health Department, effective at the close of business on Friday, March 13, 2020 all Orange County Recreation programs are being postponed until March 27, 2020. This includes all activities and programs at the Central Recreation Center, Efland-Cheeks Community Center, Cedar Grove Community Center, and Soccer.com Center.
Specifically, the youth volleyball skills assessments, youth soccer league practices, adult basketball league, adult volleyball league, afterschool, along with all daily recreation and athletic instructional classes with be postponed for two weeks.
At this time I am sure there are many questions, that you have, pertaining to what changes will be occurring to ongoing programming. We’re brainstorming ways to complete each league, program, and activity in its entirety. I and the rest of the Recreation staff will be looking at this over the next few days and will have answers to everyone as soon as possible.
All though we are postponing programming for two weeks, our offices will remain open to answer any questions or concerns that you might have during this time.
Sincerely,
Christopher A. Sousa, Superintendent of Recreation
Orange County
Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation
