Orange County Recreation Division COVID-19 Program Update
Friday, April 24, 2020
Dear Orange County Recreation Patrons,
It is with deep regret that we inform you of the cancellation of all onsite Orange County Recreation Spring programs. This includes, the youth soccer and volleyball leagues, start smart sports programs, etc. You can view the list of cancelled programs on our website: http://www.orangecountync.gov/481/Recreation-Division.
Over the past few weeks, the Orange County Recreation Division staff has been monitoring North Carolina developments related to COVID-19. With guidance from management and local and national public health agencies, our onsite operations will continue to remain closed resulting in these program cancellations for April and May. Due to the cancellation, the Orange County Recreation Division will be providing household credits to participants and their families for any cancelled Spring program. If you prefer a refund, please view the refund policy: http://www.orangecountync.gov/2406/COVID-19-Refunds.
For patrons who are interested in engaging their child(ren) in recreation programming at this time, commencing in May we will be providing our patrons with virtual recreation programming opportunities. The information on each of these virtual programs is listed on our website at https://www.orangecountync.gov/2401/Virtual-Programs. There will be a nominal fee for these programs to cover supply costs that will be provided through contact-less pickup. Registration will be conducted through our online registration software. If you need assistance with registering you can contact Lisa Brashear at 919-245-2660 or e-mail her at lbrashear@orangecountync.gov.
Lastly, for those that are registered for planned onsite programming beyond May 2020, in conjunction with the County Health Department, Risk Manager’s office, and County Management, we are currently developing COVID-19 guidelines and procedures for opening our facilities, if conditions allow, in the safest manner possible. Once completed (pending the ability to conduct programs), these guidelines and procedures will be posted on our website and distributed to you through our listserv and Facebook page. At that time we will continue to offer a flexible refund policy for any patron wishing to withdraw from programming.
The Recreation Division Staff supports everyone practicing social distancing at this time until restrictions are rescinded. Please stay safe everyone.
