Summer is upon us an we are deep into summer camp. We have a few spaces available in later summer camps for anyone with unexpected openings on their schedule or looking for additional enrichment activities.

Now is also the time to start thinking about school year programming. We are exited to have Preschool Academy and After School returning in Fall 2022. We will be hosting an open house on Friday, July 1 for anyone interested in learning more with registration for each opening July 15. More information is also below.

Our Recreation Program Guide for July-December 2022 is now available. Registration for most programs including fall youth athletic leagues (Soccer, Flag Football, and 13-15-year-old basketball) and general recreation programs is going on now.

Program Registration

In-Person Registration: NOTE NEW LOCATION. Visit the Bonnie B. Davis Environment and Agricultural Center, Suite 140, 1020 US 70 West, Hillsborough during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Online Registration: Registration is accepted online at www.orangecountync.gov/activityregistration. If you or your family has participated with us before and you do not know your account information, call 919.245.2660 during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.-4:30 p.m. ) for further assistance.

Registration opens July 15 for Preschool & After School

Summer Camp

Registration remains open for Orange County Recreation Summer Camps. Orange County Recreation camps are half-day, theme-based enrichment opportunities for children ages 4- to 12-years-old. When available, two half-day camps can be combined for a full day of childcare. Extended care available before (7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m.) and after (5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.) traditional camp hours for an additional fee.

Camps with open enrollment as of Friday, June 24:

Registration accepted first-come, first-served for remaining camp spaces. Spaces limited and available camps subject to change with continuing enrollment. Preschool & After School Open House, Friday, July 1, 6pm-7pm

Preschool Academy is the perfect classroom for your little one. Our curriculum-based learning uses age-appropriate activities to teach students numbers, letters, colors, rhythm, and science. Based on the weekly theme, students will partake in a wide variety of activities each day. This program provides both academic enrichment and socialization opportunities. Snack is provided.

Schedule

Enrollment is available for part-time either Monday-Wednesday-Friday or Tuesday-Thursday. Activities will be unique each day. Participants may enroll in both sessions for a full week of programming. Fees will not be prorated for partial attendance.

Daily activities include circle time, story time, letter-of-the-week activity, song and movement, snack, playground, arts and crafts, and discovery centers.

Program Requirements

Enrolled participants must be potty-trained. Diapers or pull-ups are not acceptable in Preschool Academy.

Registration begins July 15

The After School Program provides enrichment learning including physical activity and fitness, homework assistance, STEAM-based activities in the areas of science, engineering, art, music, and much more. The program operates from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session. After School serves students enrolled at Pathways, River Park, and Central Elementary Schools. The program is located at the Central Recreation Center in downtown Hillsborough. Transportation from your child's school to the Recreation Center is provided via County owned- and operated- 15 passenger vans. Snack is provided.

Schedule

After School follows Orange County Schools Traditional Academic Calendar for Students. Daily schedule will include physical activity (3:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.), snack (3:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m.), homework help or quiet self-directed activity (3:45 p.m.-4:15 p.m.), theme/enrichment activity (4:15 p.m.-5:00 p.m.), and group games or activity centers (5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.).
