Moments to Moments: An Improvisation Class

Performing live captivates us because anything can happen. Through theater games, improvisation, movement and good 'ole play, students are freed from the constraints that limit spontaneity and discover the power of being in the moment in this class. Form bonds through shared experiences, creating community and collaborating with others. Our class will culminate in a sharing for friends and family.

Papermaking: Rags to Beautiful Paper

Did you know paper was made from rags until the Industrial Revolution? In this workshop, you’ll learn traditional ways of papermaking, discover the qualities of what makes handmade/mould made paper special, and techniques of Western papermaking such as sheet forming, pressing and drying. We’ll cover fiber selection, prepping and pigmenting fibers. No experience needed. Supplies and lunch included. Min: 4/Max: 7.

Arts and Crafts with Jeanine

Join us for a summer art project with Ms. Jeanine. Celebrate the colors of summer with a Button Garden. We will each receive a canvas to work on and an assortment of buttons! Caregiver Education Series: Parkinson’s Disease 101

A quarterly education series designed to provide information for individuals providing care and support for a friend or family member. Join us as we bring back our monthly dinner and movie series with a new twist! We will embrace our opportunities to share good films, great company, and delicious potlucks! Each month will feature a new movie that celebrates the joys, struggles and journeys of the LGBTQ+ community.  Contact method is required upon registration for potluck participation. Pantry to Pantry

Be part of something great! Help your peers through a food share program. Gather food from your cabinets and pantries that has not expired that you would like to share and drop items off to the Center the 1st Friday of the month. Food will be shared on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. A list for food suggestions will be available at the front desk, however whatever you share will be appreciated.

Seymour Center has partnered with the Chapel Hill Public Library to bring library services to you! You can sign up for a library card, browse our selection of books including large print and bestsellers, return materials, learn how to access eBooks and audiobooks on your electronic device, and more. You may also request materials to be delivered on the Library's next visit.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Officially recognized by the UN General Assembly in 2011, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) takes place annually on June 15th. The day provides an opportunity to take action to support and protect older adults by raising awareness. Be a part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day by picking up a self-play bingo card, bookmark and awareness ribbon at your closest Center. Min: 5/Max: 100.

A Motown Sound

Detroit native, Paula C Snyder, brings her Motown favorites to the Seymour Center! Coming in as a soloist, you’ll hear her versions of songs from Martha & the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, and others. Paula hopes you’ll share your voices by singing along and showing your soul moves to support the groove. Let’s get “Dancing in the Street”!

Watercolor: Loose and Tight Exhibit

What's Your Legacy?

Consciously or not, we begin to review our lives as we age. This process has many benefits such as increased social interaction, life satisfaction, and well-being. Legacy projects utilize life reviews, giving participants perspective of their story while creating an enduring artifact to share with their loved ones. Come and learn more about legacy projects and our legacy program partnered with the End of Life Choices Senior Resource Team and UNC launching Fall ‘23. You only need to attend one session.
