Greene Tract Master Plan

Orange County is partnering with the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro to produce a master plan that will determine the development of the Greene Tract, a 167-acre property owned by the county and towns within the historic Rogers-Eubanks Neighborhood. A design workshop for this project was held on April 14 and a second one is scheduled for June 9 at Morris Grove Elementary School. All information about past and present Greene Tract efforts can be found on the county’s dedicated webpage, and you can sign up for the project newsletter here.

Long-Range Planning Project Updates

Orange County Land Use Plan 2050 – Guiding Our Future

A new project deliverable, the New Issues and Opportunities Report, has been added to the project website!  This report identifies new issues and opportunities based on vision and policy themes generated through early phases of the planning process, including inputs received through community engagement and stakeholder interviews, as well as community trends and conditions that have changed since the last plan was adopted (2008). This report will serve as the foundation for policy discussions with County Staff, the Staff Working Group, Planning Board, and Board of County Commissioners for guiding development of the new Land Use Plan 2050.

Please stay tuned for Community Engagement Window #2 (three total), which will kick off later this fall, and will be to engage the community on policy choices and receive reactions to components of the draft Plan.  Over the summer, the consultant and staff team will be developing draft future land use alternatives, policies and actions, and preparing for community engagement.
