Medicare Quick Tip of the MonthAre you paying more than $8.50/month for your prescription medication? Medicare’s Extra Help Program reduces the cost of medications and drug plan premiums for those who qualify. If you have monthly income under $1,538 ($2,078 for a married couple living together) and limited resources, you may qualify. Those with lower incomes may qualify for additional programs that eliminate the Part B premium, deductibles and coinsurance. Make an appointment with a certified SHIIP Counselor to see if you qualify and complete an application. Visit us online at www.orangecountync.gov/OCNCSHIIP or call 919-245-4274.

Aging In Community Speaker SeriesRETIREMENT: Perhaps the afternoon knows what the morning never suspected. Robert Frost Do you ever wonder what possibilities lay ahead when you leave work? What do retirees say about money? How does your retirement affect your loved ones? Are there other considerations as you approach your new life? These questions and more will be addressed by a diverse panel of “experts” on retirement. Our panel will include people who are easing into retirement, have recently retired and are well into their new lives away from formal work. They will share their stories - the surprises, the ups, the downs, the opportunities and the experiences that helped them write their unique retirement script.
