Reentry Council to sponsor similation exercise to highlight challenges faced by people returning from incarceration
The Orange County Local Reentry Council is sponsoring a Reentry Simulation on Friday, Nov. 8, from 9-11 a.m. at the Southern Human Services Center Board Room in Chapel Hill. The public is invited. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required.
Transitioning from incarceration back to society includes overwhelming challenges and struggles. At this free event, participants will learn firsthand about the experiences faced by these individuals.
The training and simulation will benefit policymakers and people who work with or want to work with these clients but who may not understand the barriers faced by reentrants. All are welcome to attend, including court stakeholders, law enforcement officials, elected officials, educators, service providers, faith community members, advocates, business community members and anyone interested in understanding reentry.
Robert Lang, Assistant United States Attorney from the Middle District of North Carolina, will facilitate the simulation.
Participation will be limited to 50 people. Please RSVP to Keith Patterson at firstname.lastname@example.org by Nov. 5.
