  1. North Carolina Black History Tour!

    In honor of Black History Month, Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation and Orange County Department on Aging invite you to explore Black History in our own back yard. We will venture to Greensboro for a guided tour of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum; lunch at a local favorite, Stephanie’s Restaurant - known for its soul food cuisine; then to Charlotte for a guided tour of the Harvey B Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture. To conclude, participants will have the opportunity to complete an interactive art experience to commemorate the day. Transportation provided at no additional cost. Min: 25/ Max: 50

  2. Orange County Senior Games Registration Now Open!

    The 2019 Orange County Senior Games’ Athletic Events will be held Apr 6 – May 4. The SilverArts visual/heritage art show will go on display beginning Mon, Apr 8 at the Seymour Center. Pick up or call one of the sponsoring locations for a registration application and a schedule of events: The Passmore Center - Hillsborough, The Seymour Center – Chapel Hill, Carrboro Recreation and Parks, and Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation.   4. Congolese Drumming Class - Seymour

    February 15, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Seymour Center

    Class is an introduction to Congolese drumming. Experience the drum we play which is called "ngoma" (“giving the strength of the panther”). It is like the conga drum. Class will focus on how to hit the drum and stay mindful of the sounds created. We will learn some traditional rhythms and accompaniments, and then put on a brief performance.
