How do I set up new recycling service?

To request a recycling cart you can submit a request online here, email us at recycling@orangecountync.gov, or call us at 919-968-2788.

My recycling cart is damaged, how do I get a new one?

If your recycling cart is damaged please email us at recycling@orangecountync.gov or call us at 919-968-2788 and we will repair or replace it as soon as possible.

How do I get a second 95 gallon rolling cart?

Payments can be made via cash, check, or money order. The fee for an additional 95 gallon cart is $60.00.

Please do NOT send cash in the mail. Cash payments can be brought to the below address.

A check or money order can be mailed to the below address, along with a note that includes your name, address, phone number, and a written request for a second cart. If you are using a check please include your driver's license number as well.  

This is a one-time fee. Once we receive payment we will call you to confirm receipt and put in a work order to deliver your cart.

How and where can I recycle a specific item?

For information on specific items please use the search tool on our A-Z Recycle Guide, available on our website and in the Orange County NC Recycles free phone app.  If there is an item that is not listed there please click “Suggest [searched item] as a new item.”, and our staff will review all suggestions.

How do I find out which day my recycling will be picked up?

Steps to Know your Recycling Route

1. Enter address in “Please type your home address:” box below
2. Click search
3. Set up recycling pick-up reminders, OR exit the pop-up if you do not want reminders (this can be set up later)
4. View next pick-up day and monthly calendars below
5. Optional: 
   1. Click “Get a reminder!” to set up recycling pick-up reminders
   2. Click “Get a calendar” to choose a virtual calendar application or print a copy
