Found a stray pet? Scan for a microchip at one of these scanning stations. You can also check your own pet's chip and contact the microchip company to make sure it is registered properly!

HAVE YOU LOST A PET?

Animal Services holds stray animals for a 5-day period in which we are open to the public for at least 3 of those days. Here are things to do if you have lost a pet:

  1. View animals currently housed at OCAS (some of these pets have known owners and are not stray, but we list all pets to make sure any lost/found inquiries can be addressed properly). Do you think your lost pet may be at our shelter? Contact us at 919-942-7387, option 2. Please leave a message if the staff is not able to answer right away, and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
  1. If you are in or near Orange County North Carolina, FILE A LOST REPORT HERE. The more places you list a pet, the better your chances of success! Utilize these popular lost/found websites to file a report or search for pets: PETCO LOVE LOST, PAWBOOST.Image and link to Petco Love Lost: report lost & found pets, search for lost and found pets
  2. People in our community often find pets and hold them at their homes instead of bringing them into the Animal Services Center. Check these reports:
    1. Recently found dogs not currently housed at the Animal Services Center
    2. Recently found cats not currently housed at the Animal Services Center
    3. Other recently found animals not currently housed at the Animal Services Center
