Orange County Emergency Medical Services

Orange County, NC (est. 1752) is located between the Research Triangle Park and the Triad cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point. The population of Orange County is listed at 150,626 according to the US Census Bureau (July 1, 2023) and the area encompasses 401 square miles of rural, suburban and urban areas. This area includes the Towns of Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Carrboro, and the community of Efland. Including the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, the oldest public university in the nation (est. 1789).

Orange County Emergency Medical Services covers the area utilizing eight advanced life support ambulance units, and two basic life support ambulance units. These ambulances are strategically station-based and run either 24 (24 on x 72 off) or 12 (modified Dupont) hour shifts. Daily Operation is run by five Administrators and two EMS Battalion Chiefs.
