Staff Working Group

The Staff Working Groups support the implementation of the County Transit Plans for Orange County. The group, known by their shared acronym SWG, are composed of technical staff and representatives of the County and its member jurisdictions along with Triangle West Transportation Planning Organization and Go Triangle. Each member of Orange SWG has different priorities, reflected in the County’s Multiyear Transit Plan. Members share many transit services, and many residents of one county work in the other. The SWG works on current transit needs, addressing rising costs, new service areas, and improving the access to bus stops, park and rides, and other emerging needs as the counties grow.

The groups review the annual work plan and budget, consider mid-range project programming and financial model updates, and develop project-level agreements. The Orange SWG has eleven voting members and 2 non-voting members (UNC, Central Pine Regional Council) The voting members of the Orange SWG are the County, the MPO, GoTriangle, City of Mebane, Chapel Hill, Town of Hillsborough and Town of Carrboro. Orange County Transportation Services staff administers the Orange SWG.

This process budgets funding for the next fiscal year, which runs July 1 through June 30, in accordance with the multi-year County Transit Plans.
