Public Comment

Public Comment – Written 

Members of the public may provide written public comments to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) at any time by emailing ocbocc@orangecountync.gov. 

 When submitting a comment, please include the following: 

  • A description of the issue you wish to bring to the BOCC’s attention
  • Your name, address, email, and phone number

The Orange County Board of Commissioners, County Manager, County Attorney, and Clerk to the Board will be copied on all submitted emails. Please note that all information and communications sent to the Orange County BOCC become public records. Emails sent to ocbocc@orangecountync.gov are subject to immediate public disclosure and may be viewed by the general public at: groups.google.com/g/ocbocc. 

Public Comment – Verbal 

Members of the public may sign up to make verbal public comments on the public comment sign-up sheets, which are located just inside the meeting room door the night of a business meeting, beginning at 6:30 pm. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes to make comments, which is not transferrable to another speaker.

To speak on an item that is NOT on the agenda, you must sign up to speak before the business meeting begins at 7:00 pm. When signing up to speak on an item that is not on the agenda, please use the white sign-up sheet and include the following:

  • Your name, address, email, and phone number
  • A brief description of the topic you wish to speak on

To speak on an item that IS on a business meeting agenda or during a public hearing, you must sign up before the item is reached on the agenda. When signing up to speak on an agenda item or during a public hearing, please use the blue sign-up sheet and include the following: 

  • Your name, address, email, and phone number
  • The agenda item (example: 6-a) you wish to speak on

If a member of the public encounters any concerns before or during a business meeting or public hearing related to speaking, please contact the Clerk to the Board at 919-245-2130 or clerk@orangecountync.gov.
