Orange County Government recognizes the need to coordinate efforts to effectively help residents struggling with substance and/or opioid use.
Harm Reduction Coordinator
Housed in the Health Department, Orange County's Harm Reduction Coordinator administers the work of the Opioid Advisory Committee. This includes managing the grant application process, monitoring progress of grantees, reporting out to the community, and coordinating an annual community meeting. The Harm Reduction Coordinator also supports the Syringe Services Programs in each of the Health Clinics.
Opioid Advisory Committee
The 19-member advisory committee examines opioid-related health concerns and issues impacting Orange County residents, advises the Board of Commissioners on options to expend funds to prevent opioid use and remedy opioid impacts, and plans and hosts an annual meeting to receive community input on proposed uses of settlement funds.
The committee will have two individuals with lived experience, one substance abuse treatment provider, a representative from a community group working on opioid-related concerns, an employment provider and two flex spots.
You can find out more about Orange County's efforts by visiting the Opioid Settlement Funds webpage.
