2022 Achievements

These numbers represent animals and people served by Orange County Animal Services in 2022.

2010 Live Outcomes

These are animals adopted, reclaimed by owners, or transferred to other organizations. These outcomes resulted in an impressive 92% live release rate for our shelter in 2022.

287 Kittens Fostered

Foster homes reduce the number of kittens housed at the shelter, provide an ideal setting for socialization, and reduce the risk of infectious disease exposure.

82 Working Barn Cats Rehomed

These community cats are not social & can’t be safely handled or petted like typical house cats. This program gives them a second chance to live happy lives on their own terms. Cats are sterilized and vaccinated before being rehomed.

347 Rabies Vaccinations Administered

These vaccines were administered at low-cost, community clinics. Rabies is a fatal, viral infection and it is a law in North Carolina that dogs, cats, and ferrets older than four months must have a current and valid rabies vaccination.
