Orange County Government will be closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Dec. 25-27, to observe the winter holidays.
Please note the following exceptions:
- Solid Waste: Monday, Dec. 25, recycling will be collected on Tuesday, Dec. 26. For the remainder of the week, recycling collection will be delayed by one day. The Waste & Recycling Centers and the Landfill will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 24th and Monday, Dec. 25th. The Solid Waste Administrative Office will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 through Wednesday Dec. 27.
- Animal Services: Will be closed Saturday, Dec. 23, through Wednesday, Dec. 27. They ask that, as always, people call 9-1-1 if they have an animal-related emergency when they are closed, such as animal bites to humans or exposure to rabies.
- Transportation Services: Will operate limited service serving the in-county dialysis route only (Carolina Dialysis Carrboro), on Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Wednesday, Dec. 27. Full service will resume Thursday, Dec. 28. In order to provide two working days’ notice for scheduling, trip requests for Thursday, Dec. 28, must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22.
- 9-1-1 Services: Will be available. Please only call 9-1-1 to report emergencies.
- Library: The Orange County Main Library in Hillsborough will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24 through Wednesday, Dec. 27. The Cybrary will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 22 through Wednesday, Dec. 27.
The county will resume its regular schedule on Thursday, Dec. 28.
