The Orange County Department on Aging invites the public to learn how to “Protect Yourself from Online Scams” in a Grow with Google workshop presented by the Chapel Hill – Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Friends of the Robert and Pearl Seymour Center.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 9 am – 11 am at the Seymour Center located at 2551 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill.
“Protect Yourself from Online Scams” is designed for anyone who shops online and spends time engaged in other online activities. The purpose of this workshop is to educate participants on ways that scammers try to access personal information and get money from unsuspecting individuals online. Participants will learn about the most common types of scams and how to avoid them, as well as how to explore the internet more safely and with confidence. In addition, participants will acquire the necessary tools to keep themselves safe, as well as their money and their personal information.
