[ARCHIVED] Orange County Property Taxes Due by January 6, 2025

TAX BILL-JANUARY 2025 1344x950

Orange County, North Carolina Tax Administrator Nancy Freeman reminds property owners that property taxes for 2024 are due. Tax bills were mailed in early August and became payable on September 1, 2024. To avoid interest charges, payments must be received or postmarked by Monday, January 6, 2025.

After the grace period ends, a 2% interest penalty will be added to unpaid balances on January 7, 2025, with an additional 0.75% interest applied on the first day of each subsequent month until the balance is paid. Taxes not paid by the deadline will be considered delinquent and subject to collection enforcement.

Failure to receive a tax statement does not exempt property owners from paying taxes or late penalties. Property owners who have not received their statement should contact the Tax Office at (919) 245-2100.

Convenient Options to Pay

  • In-person payments: Visit the Tax Office, located on the second floor of the Gateway Center at 228 S. Churton Street, Hillsborough, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Bring your bill for faster service.
  • Mail payments: Send payments to Orange County Tax Office, PO Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC 27278. Be sure to include the payment coupon and ensure payments are postmarked by January 6, 2025.
  • Online payments: For secure and convenient online payments, visit www.orangecountync.gov/PayTaxes. Credit or debit card payments are also accepted online, but note that a service fee, determined by the card processing company, applies. Orange County does not receive any portion of this fee, and you will be notified of the fee amount before completing your transaction.

For additional assistance or to request a tax statement, contact the Orange County Tax Office at (919) 245-2100. Tax payment options: https://www.orangecountync.gov/859/Tax-Payment-Options
