RALEIGH, N.C. (FEMA NEWS RELEASE) – Before Hurricane Florence arrived, many North Carolina residents thought their home would never flood. At community mitigation resiliency workshops, FEMA flood mitigation specialists will help you find your home on the floodplain map and explain what that means to you. You might be surprised to learn where your home is on this map and how that will impact you and your loved ones in the future.

Area residents can get tips and advice on how to protect their families and their homes from future disasters at this event.

These specialists will also be available to answer questions about home repair and resiliency, making disaster plans, and the importance of flood insurance.

Mitigation is an effort to reduce the loss of life and property damage by lessening the impact of disaster. The mitigation specialists will be available at:

Chapel Hill Public Library
100 Library Dr.
Chapel Hill, NC 27514
Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m.
