The Orange County Health Department is hosting its first Opioid Settlement Community Meeting on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Building, 300 West Tryon Street. The gathering is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served. Registration is required and closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. Before lunch, attendees will hear from experts about the data on opioid use and overdose rates in Orange County, treatment resources, critical gaps in service and from people with lived experience of substance use. After lunch, participants will break into small groups to propose ways to use Orange County’s Opioid Settlement Funds. The meeting will end with a focus on the next steps.
“Orange County receives Opioid Litigation Settlement Funds each year to support treatment, recovery, harm reduction, and other life-saving programs and services. You have a say in how and where these funds are spent in our community.,” stated Caitlin Fenhagen, Criminal Justice Resource Director and member of Orange County’s Opioid Advisory Committee.
