[ARCHIVED] Orange County to host community Presentation on Suicide in Older Adults

The Orange County Department on Aging and the Project EngAGE Mental Wellness Senior Resource Team invite the public to attend Let’s Talk About Suicide Awareness on November 20.

Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, claiming the lives of 49,449 Americans in 2022. 10,433 of these deaths were attributed to people aged 65 and up, and men aged 75 and older have the highest rate of suicide overall.

Talking about suicide is not an easy conversation, but it’s the first step in prevention. Please join a diverse panel of speakers as we talk about suicide in older adults, normalize mental health, and bring awareness to this important issue.

The event will take place on Wednesday, Nov 20, from 4 – 5:30 pm at the Seymour Center, located at 2551 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill.

Please register by Monday, Nov 18 with the Seymour Center front desk at 919-968-2070.

For more information, please contact Clayton Foster at clfoster@orangecountync.gov or 919-245-4276.
