[ARCHIVED] Bryant named Child Support Services Director

Erica Palmer Bryant has accepted the position as Child Support Services Director, Orange County Manager Bonnie Hammersley announced on Nov. 29, 2018.

She was chosen through an extensive interview process that included representatives from Orange County judicial partners, the Department of Social Services and the Health Department.

"Erica will continue to build the department's mission to provide support to families and children in Orange County," said Hammersley. "We are thrilled she has accepted the position and lucky to have found someone with her experience and dedication."

Bryant was named Interim Child Support Services Director in the summer to replace longtime director Janet Sparks, who retired Aug. 31, Bryant joined the county in January 2017 as Assistant Child Support Services Director.

"It is an honor to accept the opportunity to lead a dedicated team of Child Support professionals who have a vital role in establishing and maintaining self-sufficiency for many families in Orange County," said Bryant. "The Child Support Services department was molded by a great former director, Janet Sparks, and I look forward to continuing the legacy of excellent customer service."

Prior to Orange County, Erica worked in Child Support Services for Person County for more than 18 years.

She received a B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology from UNC-Asheville in 1996 and is currently working toward a Masters of Arts in Applied Arts and Sciences at UNC-Greensboro.
