[ARCHIVED] Orange County announces July 4 closings

Orange County will close its administrative and departmental offices on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. This includes senior centers, convenience centers, libraries, Health Department, visitors center and other County Government functions. County offices will re-open on Friday, July 5, and resume regular business hours. 

Please be advised of the following exceptions for Orange County departments or services.

Animal Services

The Animal Services facility will be closed, but any 9-1-1 calls for emergency animal control services will be answered on a 24-hour schedule. The after-hours animal drop will be open and checked throughout the day.

Parks

Blackwood Farm Park will operate during regular hours of 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Beginning July 1, the park is now open on Thursdays.

Orange Public Transportation

OPT will operate limited service serving the in-county dialysis route only (Carolina Dialysis). Full service on all routes will resume Friday, July 5. In order to provide two working days notice for scheduling, trip requests for Friday, July 5 must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2. Trip requests for Monday, July 8 must be received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3. 

Recycling

Curbside recycling will be collected as normal on Thursday. Beat the heat and have your cart or bins out by 7 a.m. as usual on your regularly scheduled collection day. Solid Waste Administrative Offices, the Landfill, and Waste and Recycling Centers will be closed. All services resume Friday as usual.
