[ARCHIVED] Price, Rich appointed to leadership positions in national organization

Commissioner Renee Price speaking at NACo Conference

Two Orange County Commissioners were re-appointed to positions on committees within the National Association of Counties during the NACo Annual Conference, which was held July 13-16 in Nashville, Tenn.

Orange County Commissioner Renee Price was re-appointed to a pair of leadership positions by new NACo President Greg Cox (San Diego County, Calif., Commissioner). Price was re-appointed as Vice Chair for the Arts and Culture Commission. She was also named a Vice Chair for the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee after serving as committee chair for the previous two years.

Orange County Vice Chair Penny Rich was re-appointed as a member of the Telecommunications and Technology Steering Committee.

“I am honored to continue serving the nation’s counties in these positions of leadership,” said Price. “Orange County needs to amplify its voice on issues of national importance, particularly in the areas of community development which includes affordable housing, as well as economic and workforce development. Counties must continue to work with our state and federal partners on these critical issues. Being involved with NACo will help ensure that Orange County continues to be in the vanguard of progressive change in the United States.”

NACo is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. Founded in 1935, NACo assists America’s 3,069 counties in pursuing excellence in public service to produce healthy, vibrant, safe and resilient counties. NACo promotes sound public policies, fosters county solutions and innovation, promotes intergovernmental and public-private collaboration and provides value-added services to save counties and taxpayers money.
