[ARCHIVED] Orange County announces closings for Christmas, New Year's Day

Orange County Government offices will be closed in observance of Christmas holidays on Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 28. Normal business operations will resume Tuesday, Dec. 29. County Government offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year's Day.

Please note the following changes:

COVID testing

All COVID testing events are cancelled for Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25. Testing will resume Saturday, Dec. 26. Please visit our testing page https://www.orangecountync.gov/2451/Testing to see which sites are available and to register.

Public Transportation

Orange Public Transportation will provide service to Carrboro Dialysis only on Thursday, Sunday and Monday.

Solid Waste/Recycling

Administrative offices will be closed throughout the holiday period. The Landfill and the Waste and Recycling Centers at Eubanks Rd and Walnut Grove Church Rd will be open from 7 a.m. - noon. Curbside recycling will be collected as usual.

Curbside recycling for Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25) will be collected on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Landfill and all Waste and Recycling Centers will operate under normal hours on Dec. 26 and Dec. 27.

The Landfill and the Waste and Recycling Centers at Eubanks Rd and Walnut Grove Church Rd will operate under normal hours and curbside recycling will be collected as usual on Monday, Dec. 28.

As always, emergency services are available 24 hours a day by calling 911.
