[ARCHIVED] Orange County to celebrate National Falls Prevention Awareness Day with free falls prevention screen

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (September 6, 2018)—The Orange County Department on Aging encourages the public to participate in the National Falls Prevention Awareness Day and schedule a free falls prevention screening.

Saturday, September 22, is the first day of fall and is used to promote and increase public awareness on how to prevent and reduce falls among older adults. 

To recognize the day, the Department on Aging invites residents to schedule an appointment for a FREE customized falls prevention screening, including a balance screening, footwear exam, exercise demonstration, walker and cane fitting adjustment, and consultation provided by UNC University Physical Therapy and ElderFit In Home Rehab.

Seymour Center - 2551 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill

  • Friday, September 17
  • 9 a.m. – Noon
  • For appointments, please call 919.968.2070.

Passmore Center - 103 Meadowland Drive in Hillsborough

  • Friday, September 28
  • 9 a.m. – Noon
  • For appointments, please call 919.245.2015.

Screenings are free; however, participants must schedule an appointment in advance. Contact the location of your choice to register.
