[ARCHIVED] Orange County announces Memorial Day closings, special event at Veterans Memorial

Orange County Government will be closed Monday, May 31, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Offices will resume normal operations Tuesday, June 1.

Please note the following exceptions:

Curbside recycling will be collected under the normal schedule on Monday, but all manned Waste and Recycling Centers and the Landfill will be closed.

OCPT will operate limited service serving the in-county dialysis route only (Carolina Dialysis). In order to provide two working days’ notice for scheduling, trip requests for Tuesday, June 1, must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday May 27. Trip requests for Wednesday, June 2, must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, May 28.

The walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Whitted Human Services Building will be closed. Visit our website for the current schedule and a list of pop-up vaccine clinics being held throughout the county.

Honor veterans at the Orange County Veterans Memorial

The Orange County Veterans Memorial will host a special ceremony on Memorial Day (Monday, May 31) at the Veterans Memorial Site on Homestead Road. The guest speaker will be Nick Palmisciano, CEO of Diesel Jack Media, Founder of Ranger Up, Former United States Army Captain, and Ranger. Please arrive at 7:45 a.m. for the Posting of Colors promptly at 8 a.m.

In case of inclement weather, it will be inside at the Seymour Center Theater.
