[ARCHIVED] Orange County announces holiday closings

Orange County government will be closed from Friday, Dec. 23, through Tuesday, Dec. 27, in observance of Christmas. County offices will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year's Day.

The county will operate its normal schedule on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Dec. 28-30) and will resume normal operations on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The last day to make in-person payments to the tax office so they will be displayed as paid in the 2022 calendar year is Friday, Dec. 30.

For dropbox payments to reflect as paid in the 2022 calendar year, payment must be put in the dropbox before 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30. Dropbox is located outside the tax office door at Gateway Center, 228 S. Churton Street, Hillsborough.

The tax office also offers online payment options. Visit www.orangecountync.gov/paytaxes for more information on other payment options, or call (919) 245-2100 for additional assistance.

Recycling will be collected as normal on Friday, Dec. 23, and on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 26-27. For the week of New Year's Day (Jan. 2-6), recycling will be pushed back a day. No recycling will be collected on Monday, Jan. 2.

OCPT will operate limited service to the in-county dialysis center only (Carolina Dialysis in Carrboro) on Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26, and Mon, Jan. 2. OCPT will operate normal transit service on Dec. 28 thru Dec. 30.
