Orange County Animal Services has partnered with the Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) and Friends of Orange County Animal Shelter (FOCAS) to raise funds for public art pieces to be housed at the Animal Services Center. Animal Services hopes that local donors will want to contribute to the effort and that even more funds might be raised for future art projects.
Art Sculptures
The outdoor art sculptures ‘Sit and Stay’ by local artist Mike Roig were funded prior to the opening of the Animal Services Center in 2009. In 2017, Animal Services proudly added another sculpture, "Calypso Cat," by local artist Mark Elliott.
Art pieces of this kind are pivotal to the Animal Services Center and its original goal to be a destination place within the community. They help to break old stereotypes about animal shelters and instead offer visitors and other community members a well-lit, inviting, and welcoming place to gather, volunteer, and adopt.
Donate
Those interested in donating to these types of projects can do so online via Orange County’s Community Giving Fund. Donations are also welcome in other forms, and you may call 919-942-7387 and ask to speak with the Animal Services Director to discuss them.
