2025 Achievements

These numbers represent animals and people served by Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) in 2025

2,894 Live Outcomes

These are animals adopted, reclaimed by owners, or transferred to placement partners. These outcomes resulted in an impressive 91.6% live release rate for our shelter in 2025.

2,024 Animals Fostered (1352 cats, 659 dogs, 13 others)

Foster homes reduce the number of pets housed at the shelter, provide an ideal setting for socialization, and reduce the risk of infectious disease exposure. In addition to the animals fostered, 1169 dogs went on field trips and 323 dogs went on sleepovers as part of our Dog Day Out initiative.

29 Working Barn Cats Rehomed

These cats are not social & can’t be safely handled or petted. This program gives them a second chance to live happy lives on their own terms. Cats are sterilized and vaccinated before being rehomed.

4,259 Activities Handled by Animal Control Officers

OCAS Officers work around the clock to assist people and animals in our community.

2,025 Cats & Dogs Spayed or Neutered by OCAS

(Cats = 1424, Dogs = 601)

Spaying and neutering is a proactive strategy to combat pet overpopulation and remains an integral part of the Orange County Animal Services mission.

18,455 Volunteer Hours

Our amazing volunteers donated 18,455 hours of their time to help shelter animals in 2025.
