Orange County Department of Social Services supports families with a number of programs to help create and sustain stability.
Programs Include:
Adolescent Parenting Program (APP)
The Adolescent Parenting Program (APP) is a free program that serves any Orange County pregnant or parenting teen nineteen years or younger, who wants support achieving life goals and establishing family plans.
Orange County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC)
Orange County Social Services supports organizations that provide prevention and intervention services to reduce youth crime and violence through the Orange County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
Economic Services
Social Services administers county, state and federal programs to assist families and individuals in meeting their basic needs and achieving self-sufficiency.
Elderly & Disabled Services
Seniors and disabled residents can benefit from the services provided by Social Services who administers county, state and federal programs and provides services designed to assure that aging and disabled adults in the community will be safe and healthy and live in the least restrictive setting possible.
Family and Children's Medicaid
Medicaid is a health insurance program for families and individuals whose income makes it difficult for them to afford health care. It is a publicly funded program governed by federal and state laws.
Work First Family Assistance
North Carolina 's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, called Work First, is based on the premise that parents have a responsibility to support themselves and their children. Through Work First, parents can get short-term training and other services to help them become employed and self-sufficient.
