Orange County Announces their Eleventh Annual Holiday Program
Orange County, NC- Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS) is preparing for their eleventh annual holiday program, The Orange County Toy Chest, in partnership with Toys for Tots. This program is an annual event that supplies low-income children in Orange County with holiday gifts. With the help of numerous community partners and local donors, we were able to provide thousands of gifts to over 2700 children last year. Now that the holiday season is here, we would love to continue the momentum in our gift-giving efforts. In order to do so, your time and donations are needed!
Your donation of new, unwrapped toys will go a long way to bring the magic of the holidays to each child. We are currently in need of toys, particularly for youth ages 6 – 12. If you prefer not to shop, monetary donations will be gladly accepted to purchase gift items. If you would like to make a monetary contribution, you can do so via the Toys For Tots website. Please make sure you designate NC-Hillsborough to ensure the contributions are provided to Orange County DSS.
In addition to contributions, a persistent need for volunteers exists. Adults and children ages thirteen and up, accompanied by an adult, can donate their time. Saturday, December 15th has a high need for volunteers.
The Toy Chest will take place on December 15, 2018, 9am to 5pm and December 16, 2018, 1pm to 5pm, at the Orange County Department of Social Services Center, located in the Hillsborough Commons Shopping Center, 113 Mayo Street, in Hillsborough, NC.
If you would like more information on how you can help, either by providing donations or volunteering, please contact our Holiday Hotline at (919) 245-2821 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
