Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

WIOA for Adult and Dislocated Workers

The Adult and Dislocated Worker Program, under Title I of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the current and changing labor market, and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the local and global economy.  The WIOA program pairs motivated job-seekers with an experienced career adviser who will become their partner on a journey to obtain sustainable employment through targeted educational and career development opportunities.

Job seekers who have demonstrated that they are not able to obtain or retain self-sufficient employment may, subject to certain limitations, be eligible to receive training services.  Depending on need and funding availability, financial assistance may be provided for:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Books and supplies
  • Uniforms and tools
  • Transportation
  • Child care
  • Background checks
  • Immunizations
  • Certification exam costs
