The Orange County Board of Commissioners declared a State of Emergency for Orange County, effective Jan. 22, 2026, at 12 p.m.
The declaration was issued by Jean Hamilton, chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, to support countywide emergency response and coordination efforts for the pending winter storm. The declaration authorizes the county to take necessary actions to protect public health and safety and to ensure effective coordination with local, state, and emergency management partners.
Unless modified or rescinded, the State of Emergency will automatically expire after five days.
The declaration has been filed with the Clerk to the Orange County Board of Commissioners, shared with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, and distributed to relevant agencies to support implementation.
